Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established organisation delivering major construction and infrastructure projects across the UK.
This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, supporting project delivery teams by providing commercial expertise and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.
The successful candidate will be responsible for controlling costs, maximising revenue opportunities, minimising commercial risk, and maintaining accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Produce accurate financial reporting and commercial forecasts for projects.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Manage subcontractor accounts from both a financial and contractual perspective.
Monitor subcontractor performance against project programmes and negotiate final accounts.
Place supply chain orders in accordance with procurement schedules.
Complete measurements and valuations of completed works in line with contractual requirements.
Ensure payments to subcontractors and suppliers are processed in accordance with agreed terms and cash flow targets.
Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
Analyse cost overruns and provide cost forecasting and projections.
Identify opportunities to improve project value and reduce costs.
Liaise with clients regarding commercial matters, including variations, claims, and additional payments.
Prepare and submit supporting documentation for contractual claims.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal business processes.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial function.
Adhere to all company policies relating to compliance, health & safety, and governance.
Requirements
Essential
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry.
Experience managing both pre-contract and post-contract commercial activities.
Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
Excellent financial reporting and cost management skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
Desirable
Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or major construction projects.
Knowledge of NEC and other standard forms of contract.
Understanding of modern construction methods, plant, and equipment.
Appreciation of programme delivery, logistics, and construction planning.
