About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to provide technical engineering support across several civil engineering projects within the region.

You will be responsible for establishing survey control, overseeing setting out activities, managing quality standards and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.

The role also involves supervising and mentoring Site Engineers and trainees, supporting project teams and working closely with Site Agents, Project Managers and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain survey control and setting out across civil engineering projects.

• Oversee Site Engineers, ensuring setting out activities are accurate and completed in accordance with contract drawings.

• Attend and supervise critical setting out activities.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.

• Support Site Agents and Project Managers in developing efficient construction methods and resource planning.

• Assist with materials procurement, including take-offs and procurement schedules.

• Carry out instrumental checks and maintain accurate quality assurance records.

• Prepare and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Management Plans.

• Identify quality issues and recommend corrective actions.

• Organise and deliver toolbox talks and prepare method statements.

• Manage engineering resources and support the development of junior engineers.

• Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, subcontractors and project teams.

• Maintain accurate as-built drawings, project documentation and handover records.

• Deputise for the Site Agent or Sub Agent when required.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer role within civil engineering.

• Strong background in highways, infrastructure and reinforced concrete projects.

• Previous experience in setting out and establishing survey control.

• Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.

• Valid CSCS card.

• SMSTS certification.

• Confined Space Training.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Experience managing quality assurance, ITPs and engineering documentation.

• Ability to manage and deliver projects with minimal supervision.

• Strong organisational skills and accurate record keeping.

• Excellent communication skills when working with clients, site teams and subcontractors.

• Ability to identify design issues, challenge technical decisions and resolve problems effectively.

• Experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior engineering staff.
