Job Title: Chief Technical Officer
Software company based in Manchester is currently looking for a talented and experienced Chief Technical Officer to lead on IT solutions and development strategy to the other companies within the group. the market is insurance.
Reporting directly to the CEO and Operational Board you will be accountable for the successful development and delivery of IT strategy ensuring achievement in the organisations strategic plan.
The group is rapidly growing and as a result is regularly reviewing its process and associated technologies to create and maintain a stable and scalable environment.
Your immediate focus will be on the design, development and implementation of our IT applications which support the franchise/broker network. You will ensure that the company delivers on its core product offering and develops it technical capability to explore a range of new service offerings to the market needs.
The core software consists of a comprehensive system for insurance broking and franchises covering quotations, accounts, management information and documentation production. The databases are based on D3, a powerful multi-dimensional relational database system driven by data dictionaries. A strategic project exists to write a GUI front end in php to augment "green screen" applications while retaining the main part of the business rules within the database.
The systems are hosted on a centralised multi-server network with Windows server operating systems. A wholesale broking Internet interface is written in Flex, which is being strategically rewritten in php and Microsoft applications are integrated into the software to provide email, documentation production, EDI etc. An applicant being able to demonstrate knowledge of the key software technologies employed would be at an advantage.
