Job Description

.Net Developer required for a large organisation based in London

The successful candidate will work in the "Pulse" team whose primary role is to support and develop applications. The team is responsible for the continued development of the applications as well as their operational state.

Your role will be to support, develop and maintain applications and systems used by the company commensurate with skill levels and experience as directed by your Team Leader and/or Manager. Provide a professional, efficient, timely and cost effective service to users and the company for which he has responsibility. Provide technical assistance whenever possible for the key systems and operating software.

You will be responsible for:
·Provide effective and efficient services to users and clients, ensuring work is carried out to an acceptable standard (commensurate with normal market practices) to agreed deadlines. Ensure maximum availability of computer systems and other related services within his/her remit.
·Assist in, and actively undertake where appropriate the analysis, development, programming and unit testing of any software enhancements or rectification of faults of any system within his/her remit.
·Assist in the production of design and program specifications relating to both new developments and software enhancements.
·Comply with the controls that are in place to mitigate risk, such as using the support desk systems and adhering to the change management processes and procedures and following a strict SDLC lifecycle.
·Assist in the production of user and technical documentation relating to new software releases.
·Work on the Development help desk when required and deal with incoming user calls and requests.
·Ensure management are aware of any issues in a timely manner.
·Keep abreast of new developments and working practices both business and technical.
·Offer guidance and training to junior team members or new joiners
·Liaise with; provide assistance and support to the users, Help Desk, Programme Manager, Technical Support and other Development teams.
·Provide technical support with regard to all systems and processes in general, but especially Fiscal.
·Liaise with users and key suppliers as required.
·Recommend any changes to or improvements in both working practices and service delivery. This will include software and hardware upgrades, procedural changes, staff training and changes.

Your skills should include:
·PULSE is the main system used by the front office. A working knowledge of its applications and processes would be advantageous although training will be given where and when appropriate. Pulse requires in depth knowledge of XML, XSL, .NET, c#, MVC, IIS etc
·An understanding the following technologies is not essential but could be an advantage: Linux, Universe, Redback and the Databasic.
·Previous experience of the finance sector is not essential, but would be a distinct advantage. Similarly a general understanding of how the financial markets work would be helpful.
·Must show an aptitude to programming and the ability to work within a team environment.
·FISCAL is the primary source of information and we would expect the successful candidate to be crossed trained in some of its applications/modules; Databasic, the Universe operating system and environment.
·Other systems where a good understanding of the functionality and processes involved include: CORIC (document warehouse system), Proquote and Web applications.
·Familiarity with standard Desktop applications is required.
·A thorough understanding of SDLC's and their benefits is essential.
Qualifications required (preferably):
Ideally, but not mandatory if experience can be demonstrated:
·Educated to degree level in an IT related discipline
·PRINCE II or PMP certified
·Hands-on working knowledge of some or all of the following is essential: NETC#, MVC, Oracle, SQL, XML, XSL, VB, Web Services, ASP.NET, IIS, server applications and alike.
·An in depth knowledge of Windows, Microsoft office, and general PC applications is required.
