Job Description

We are looking for Graduate Developer to join a brand new team for a large software and services provider based in Derby. This role offers the opportunity to move in to using some of the latest technologies such as SOA, NServiceBus, HTML5 and CSS3.

The role would suit someone with around one years' commercial experience that has been exposed to some of the following technologies:

  • C#
    • ASP.NET
    • Javascript
    • HTML/5, XML, XSLT, CSS/3
    • SQL Server
    • VB.Net
    • .NET 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 or above
    • Service Oriented Architecture development
    • Webservices/WCF 4 (Windows Communication Foundation)
    • Agile/Scrum environment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understanding customer requirements and converting into a usable software solution
  • Liaising with customers and internal staff to work through problems and reach an agreeable solution
  • Working with the team to manage small-scale development projects
  • Translating software requirements into concise and robust programming code
  • Maintaining any existing applications and identifying opportunities to improve the code-base
  • Testing developed code to a high quality including verifying user-acceptance criteria to ensure work meets requirements
  • Devising possible solutions to predicted problems, evaluating other options
  • Producing technical documentation to describe system usage
  • Working closely with the Test Analyst to ensure feedback and issues are addressed
  • Liaising with third-parties to implement external dependencies
  • Providing telephone support both internally and to external clients
  • Consulting resource material to maintain and further existing skills and knowledge

Person Skills:

To be considered for this role you should have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical facts to non-technical people, be a self-starter, be used to working as part of a team and have a positive and mature attitude to work.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Computer science related degree at 2.1 or above
