Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Developer to join a brand new team for a large software and services provider based in Derby. This role offers the opportunity to move in to using some of the latest technologies such as SOA, NServiceBus, HTML5 and CSS3.

You will be responsible for translating software requirements into concise and robust programming code and be accustomed to identifying opportunities to improve the code-base in in terms of its quality and implementation. You should be good at troubleshooting and be able to devise possible solutions to predictable problems and evaluate other options.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·Understanding customer requirements and converting into a usable software solution

·Liaising with customers and internal staff to work through problems and reach an agreeable solution

·Working with the team to manage small-scale development projects

·Translating software requirements into concise and robust programming code

·Maintaining any existing applications and identifying opportunities to improve the code-base

·Testing developed code to a high quality including verifying user-acceptance criteria to ensure work meets requirements

·Devising possible solutions to predicted problems, evaluating other options

·Producing technical documentation to describe system usage

·Working closely with the Test Analyst to ensure feedback and issues are addressed

·Liaising with third-parties to implement external dependencies

·Providing telephone support both internally and to external clients

·Consulting resource material to maintain and further existing skills and knowledge

Essential Technical Skills





·SQL Server (TSQL for SQL Server)

·Relational database structures and principles

·Object Oriented Programming practices and principles

·Awareness of common design patterns

Desirable Technical Skills:


·.NET 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 or above

·Service Oriented Architecture development

·Webservices/WCF 4 (Windows Communication Foundation)


Education / Qualifications:

·Computer science related degree at 2.1 or above

·OR a proven track record of working in a technical environment using the technologies listed above
