2017 Challenge – The Colour Run

Every year, Elkie tries to do a different challenge.  It is generally something outside her comfort zone.  Elkie says: "It's good to step outside your comfort zone and do something different each year.  I think it keeps you fresh and alive."

In the past, Elkie has done Indoor Skydiving, The Nuts Challenge (a military assault course) and a variety of other different things.  The challenges can be mental or physical or anything which is new and outside her comfort zone.

In 2017, Elkie chose a physical challenge.  She chose to participate in The Colour Run, also known as "The Happiest 5k on the Planet".  Events are held in a variety of locations, including London, Brighton and Manchester.  The Colour Run is a unique colour fun run that celebrates healthiness, happiness and individuality.  It is now the single largest event series in the world.

So Elkie Holland this year left her desk as a MultiValue IT Recruiter and went on The Colour Run 2017 in Brighton in September.  This was a bit of a physical challenge for a Desk Jockey!

Elkie achieved the run and was definitely colourful at the end and entered into the spirit of it.  Elkie says the Colour Run was one thing, but then walking through the whole of Brighton to get back to her hotel was even longer than the run!

Elkie said of her experience:  "It's a great fun event.  The advice I'd give to anyone is "hold your breath as you run through the colour"! There is great fun, and for anyone who is a Desk Jockey and needs motivation to get up, this can be a great goal.  Some walk, some jog and some run.  It's a great inclusive event. I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I highly recommend everyone challenges themselves each year to do or learn something different."

PHOTO NOTE It's a bag bump, not a baby bump!  I had to keep my water and ventolin somewhere away from the colour!
