It’s a huge week for Rocket with 2 massive announcements affecting the MultiValue world.
The first announcement was
the release of the general availability of UniVerse 11.2 and the second the completion of the acquisition of the MultiValue Database Business from
TigerLogic.
On the release of UniVerse 11.2:
Susie Siegesmund, Vice President and General Manager at Rocket Software says: “This major release is another big advancement in features for this Enterprise NoSQL database. Besides the highlighted features, UniVerse 11.2 also includes performance improvements. We communicate regularly with our customers and partners to define and prioritize our development roadmap. With the growing volume of data being processed through UniVerse applications, improving performance is always one of their priorities.”
Henry Unger, President and Owner of Hitech Systems, a Rocket Software partner delivering solutions in the public safety and emergency response sector says: "UniVerse 11.2 is the next step in the continuing evolution of the UniVerse database. One significant new feature that is of immediate benefit to us and our customers is UniVerse Database Audit Logging. Audit Logging provides a logical, consistent, reliable mechanism that enables us to implement and administer solutions to the ever-changing security mandates imposed on us and our customers by various governmental entities."
On the Acquisition of MultiValue Database Business from TigerLogic:
Andy Youniss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rocket Software, said "We have a very large customer base asking us to help them with solutions that are not dependent on relational database technology. MultiValue is a unique, NoSQL database technology that is perfect for today – it is technically excellent, cost-effective, and easy to deploy and run. We made our first acquisition in this space four years ago, and today’s acquisition further reinforces our commitment to this technology, our partners whose solutions depend on our technology, and customers that rely on those applications to run their businesses.
We are also excited to announce that the team that develops,
supports, and sells these database products has joined Rocket. We plan to
invest in this team and this technology as we grow our MultiValue database
business. We want to especially welcome our new customers and partners — we
look forward to supporting each of you and helping you achieve even more
success."
Rocket Software hosted three webinars for customers and partners to introduce the company, discuss the acquition, and answer any questions.
This demonstrates Rocket's continued commitment to MultiValue databases since it acquired UniVerse and UniData from IBM in October 2009. Rocket will continue to develop and support the Rocket D3 family of products (D3, mvBase and mvEnterprise), and will integrate other Rocket products to expand the technology available to all of its MultiValue customers.
