No SQL Databases

Date published: May 2010

Prof. Dr. Stefan Edlich  created and maintains the NoSQL website.

On this site, NoSQL is defined:

"NoSQL DEFINITION: Next Generation Databases mostly addressing some of the points: being non-relational, distributed, open-source and horizontal scalable. The original intention has been modern web-scale databases. The movement began early 2009 and is growing rapidly."

Most MultiValue systems would consider themselves NoSQL, and most have been around since before 2009.  But, do MultiValue systems meet the definition of a NoSQL Database ?

Stefan is currently finishing the world's first NoSQL book in German to be published in September (for Hanser Verlag) and the English version is expected 6 months later.  Stefan is also co-author of "The Definitive Guide to db4o"

Elkie Holland finds out more about NoSQL by chatting with Stefan, and gets his opinions on SQL vs NoSQL.
